Struggling with Good & Bad Habits
Why am I struggling with Good & Bad Habits?
The challenge of not being able to implement good habits is characterized by a repeated inability to adopt and maintain behaviors that contribute to personal or professional growth and well-being. It can manifest as a cycle of setting intentions without follow-through. Bad habits, on the other hand, are persistent behaviors that are detrimental to one’s physical or mental health, relationships, or daily performance.
How It Can Show Up:
Bad habits can manifest as consistent lateness, unhealthy eating, smoking or excessive screen time, among others. They often result in negative consequences, such as health problems, decreased productivity and personal dissatisfaction. On the other side, not being able to establish good habits can lead to feelings of frustration, stagnation and self-criticism. Individuals may struggle with establishing routines like regular exercise, healthy eating or productive work habits, often succumbing to easier or more pleasurable activities instead.
Where It Might Originate From:
In general, difficulties with habits can be attributed to various factors including stress, boredom, instant gratification, social influences, or a lack of clarity on long-term goals. However, looking deeper, it might also stem from feelings of not being good enough, the missing role-modelling in families, or the absence of a supportive environment.
